back from new york!
Journal Entry: Tue Jul 8, 2008, 1:09 PM
it was just absolutely incredible at new york.
i;ll tell you all about it here. (:
june 30th-
TO THE AIRPORT.
we left the house around 8, but we had to turn the car back around when we were about 2 blocks away from home. my mom couldn;t remember if she brought the toothbrushes, aha. so we drove back, and she came back into car realizing she already did. how smart right? well there wasn;t any traffic or much people at the airport so we had a bunch of time until our flight. seatac was remodled, and i never saw it yet, so we walked through the whole airpot. it was really pretty, we sat infront of the wall of windows and we looked at the sunset and planes taking off. i got some photos which i;ll have to upload sometimes soon. after a while we finally got to go on the plane. i kind of just sat there bored, looked out the window for a while, before it turned pitch black out, and listened to music.
july 1st-
@ NEW YORK CITY.
we entered the east coast, and was in a totally different time zone. it was already morning there, but it was only like 3AM back in seattle. so we were all pretty tired, especially since i didn;t sleep much. when we finally landed it was around 7AM in new york, 4 in seattle. got to the hotel and left our luggages there. went for food and we went to united nations. walked around and hung around in the hotel. when we finally got our rooms we took a nap, since we only slept for 1 hour on the plane. went out for dinner. we walked all the way to TIME SQUARE and it was incredibly packed there. people were everywhere. the lighted billboards/signs are really nice to look at when it turns darker. went into toys r us and the m&m store. went through the streets and stuff.
july 2nd-
woke up then ate breakfast around the hotel.
EMPIRE STATE BUILDING.
we waited in line for so long it was crazy, we were there for probably almost 3 hours. it was worth it though. being able to be so high up and able to see the whole city from up there was incredible. the view up there was just spectacular. especially since the weather was nice, and the sky was really nice. there was a lot of people up there though. i took lots of photos, which i;ll have to pick a few of the best to submit here. then we had lunch at the ESPN zone. (: walked around time square again, and through all these other streets.
CENTRAL PARK.
that was the other place we walked to. it seemed so far. there were so many people drawing there and i kept seeing squirrles. aha. the walk back to the hotel was absolutely long. my legs were so tired from walking i was gonna go crazy. had dinner and back to the hotel.
july 3rd-
just like every morning it was wake up, news, bfast.
GRAND CENTRAL TERMINAL.
we took the subway all the way down to the bottom.
then we waited forever in line to ride the ferry.
we went to LIBERTY ISLAND and ELLIS ISLAND.
STATUE OF LIBERTY.
that was the first stop we made, and it was really nice to be able to go there. once again there was a lot of people there. i took photos there as well. we took the ferry with a total of 3 times. it took pretty much 1/2 the day. when we got back we walked from battery park to financial district to CHINATOWN to LITTLE ITALY. we ended up eatting the 2nd meal of the day around 5;30. so we kind of just skipped lunch and just had our dinner. the first thing i did when we reached to the resturant was go to the bathroom, aha. and at the table, i killed the cup of water, and the one following that. i was so tired and thirsty from walking. we took the subway back to grand central terminal since it was just 2 blocks away from our hotel.
july 4th-
HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
walked all around the places. we went into a lot of the shops. and into this church. we ended up walking all the way around central park again. my legs were absolutely tired. walk walk walk walk walk. had lunch at this pizza place, it was really good. and i guess i have a really short term memory because i forgot what else i did. >.<
MACY'S FOURTH OF JULY.
we walked down there and it was absolutely packed with people. we didn;t exactly have the best spot. especially after this dumb beezy got into our spot. she was this fcking annoying lady. fjaskl. but yeah, the fireworks started @ 9;25. and it lasted for around 1/2 an hour. i had to stand on my tippytoes to watch it aha, really tiring, but worth it. the fireworks were really pretty. i didn;t get nice photos from that because of the spot i was in and there was just too many people in the way. i;ll see how they turned out, and if i can find any pretty nice ones i;ll submit them. just when the fireworks started it rained, but we were right under the bridge so we didn;t get wet.
july 5th-
LAST DAY!
time flew by so quick, we were already on our last day. i couldn;t believe it. ): well we woke up and packed all of our things and we checked out. since our flight wasn;t til later on at night we left our luggages there. we weren;t really sure what we were gonna do on our last day, so we took the subway again. the other day we took the subway we didn;t get to go much places, since going to the statue of liberty took more than 1/2 of the day. therefore we took the subway back down around chinatown and little italy. it was our last day and the very first day of rain there. so after eatting and walking around a bit we decided to go back because it kept raining. we hung around the hotel;s lobby and walked around for some snacks. we were planning to leav around 5 since they said it might take an hour til we reach jfk airport. the driver came about 1/2 an hour earlier than we expected, so we decided to leave earlier since we didn;t have much to do anyways. the streets were so empty, since it was a saturday, we got to the aiport in only 30 minutes. so that left us with a whole lot of time at the airport. jfk airport is so old and small compared to seatac, so it felt a bit weird. we were hungry so we got some food at the food court. the line was so fcking long !#%. and it was only for FAST FOOD. we ended up not getting our food until nearly an hour later. and that was for FAST FOOD. so i was like wtfck? the workers there were horrible.
GOODBYE NEW YORK CITY.
it was finally time to get on the plane. it was around 8 then. we didn;t liftoff until about 30 minutes! the sun was just sitting towards the bottom of the sky so it left an incredible streak of color in the sky. i took some photos, listened to music, watch the food channel. (: it looked delicious, haha. i kinda slept for 45 minutes-ish. and just like that we were back to seattle, washington. my uncle picked us up and i got home and dropped my luggage on the floor, brushed my teeth and got knocked out on my bed. i was so tired.
THE WEATHER.
it was pretty hot during the days i went there. except for the last day, where it rained. i noticed how the streets are normally shady though, since the buildings are so tall it covers most of the sunlight. i still got pretty tan though. the weather is kind of similar to seattle;s weather, when it;s nice.
THE STREETS.
another thing that was different was definately the streets. it;s normally packed with people except on july 4th and the weekend. probably because there wasn;t work on those days. i also noticed how more than 1/2 of the cars on the streets are those orange taxis! it was kind of weird at first, but i got used to it. when i came back to seattle, i thought it was so weird that the buildings aren;t all gigantic/tall, and there were no taxis anywhere. pretty weird. living in seattle my whole life, i;ve been raised to wait at the streets until the light turns, but in new york people pretty much just crossed whenever, as long as there were no cars. besides those there wasn;t anything much dramatically different.
so that was pretty much what i did during the trip. i;m really glad that we went to new york for our vacation. i had an amazing time there and did many different things. now i just got to upload my photos... oh boy! how fun... sike. i;ll probably start doing that today. (hopefully!) i;m so lazy right now.
